THE Wartime Leadership Podcast: The Resiliency of North Carolina State football standout and NCAA Coach Roger Pollard is now available! He is an author, teacher, coach and public speaker. Roger is a Miami Florida native. Growing up he played everything he could: baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. But his parents ensured he remained focused on the academics. He played football at NC State and remained on scholarship throughout. He was a Graduate Assistant at Middle Tennessee State while earning his Masters in Sports Management. After graduating he returned home to his Alma mater where he was the head coach for the next 10 years. After stepping away from coaching, Roger has written a three-book series called Put Motive In Motivation: The Book Everyone Should Read; Build Your Pyramid of Love, Courage and Discipline; and Origins and Action. During this episode, Roger takes us through her definition of Spiritual Resilience and how it manifests in his life. He walks us through how he motivates athletes on the field versus students in the classroom. “Our life is a musical play and sometimes we get so caught up in the one note we got wrong.. we’re good at identifying the wrong note in our lives instead of hearing the song.” Roger talks about a very difficult time in his life when be walked out of the house, and didn’t want to come back. He refuses to tell someone what happened to him as our imagination cannot connect where he was. He talks about how he has deliberately leaned into the dark moments of his life as those points in life are like a bow string we must use to propel further in life.
